Well, My Bonny lies over the ocean.

For those who haven't been keeping up on my personal life (which why would you want to?), most of it recently has been centered around a girl. This one, to be exact:

She's the one on the left. I'm the goob on the right. Yes, I've been known to wear a shirt that says "Don't Waste My Time". So, don't by making fun of me. (Just a Note on the Picture: I think of this as our American Gothic picture. She looks smug. I look constipated. I love it.)

Anyway, it's been kind of a roller-coaster ride: She had a boyfriend, We were friends, blah, blah, blah. Eventually, we got everything sorted out.

I've had an excellent couple of weeks, spending every spare minute I had with her and then some. Needless to say, Flatwood has not been updated like it should have been.

Now comes the complication. We both graduated this semester, and before this whole thing happened, she accepted a teaching position in another town (about 2 1/2 hours a way).

So yesterday, she had to leave town. I mean, I'll see her about every weekend (until she wisens up, maces me, and gets a restraining order), but still, it kinda sucks. And, at the risk of sounding like a normal human being with feelings, I miss her.

On the bright side (for you), I'm good and down right now, so drawing Flatwoods are a breeze. Dark and depressing. You got it.

No, just kidding.

And, Rachel, if you happen upon this, don't hate me. I'm just posting personal items on the internet for any total stranger to see. What's the harm in that?

What, shes now a celebrity! Hundreds of dorkish kids from all over the webcomic communauty will see her face and squeal while thinking of some sick way to bring her great harm! Totally! I wish it happened to me, yes I do.

Feel as bad as you need to, just give us Flatwood! When you're feeling fun we haven't seen an Elite Eight in quite a while.*nudzh nudzh*

Haha.

Yeah, it's WIN-WIN.

If I'm mopey: Flatwood.

If I'm not: E8.

Well, she's definitely cute, so it's all forgiven. :)

Long-distance is hard, but doable. I was in a long-distance relationship for 5 years before moving in together, and now we're planning our wedding. So it can all work out, you just have to be willing to put time and effort (and money, 'cause long-distance calls SUCK and are pricey) into it.

But hey, more Flatwood! Yay!

Thanks.

She seems to think it's totally possible, too.

I've got Time and Effort to spare, so hopefully it will work out.

Zak,

cheer up...having a weekend relationship is not as bad as it may seem, especially in the time of the internet. My bf and me are chatting the whole day, using Skype for phonecalls, and recently bought a webcam. I know, it's not "the real deal", but still it's way better than it would have been thirty years ago ;)

Besides, I guess you'll suddenly find a lot more days off work during the week...Oh, and can you persuade her to get to the next Flat Chat?

She's not very internet savvy, or I would.

She has read Flatwood, though, and it didn't scare her off.

Beatrice is kinda based on her...a bit. Actually, I just tell that to all the girls.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

She doesn't really look like the Flatwood type. Otherwise, that jack o'lantern would be much more hideous looking.

It was nice of you not to draw any Flatwood while I was have trouble getting on the internet. Now that I can get on every day, feel free to update!

Actually, I carved the pumpkin. Dost I dare reveal my happy side?

Yeah, I'm glad you guessed why I wasn't updating...I was mourning your absence.

DOOD... I need that shirt. Seriously. I'd wear it to work and they'd be like "hey, where's your unifo-" and I'd cut them off with an over-the-glasses sassy look and just point at the shirt. That'd show them... it'd show them GOOD.

And for some reason... I thought you'd be shorter. Y'know... like Alex. I guess I just assume self-insertion is the way most webcomicteers go *coughreedcough* ;)

But I'm glad that things have worked out (albeit in a long distance situation) with Rachel... I feel your "I don't wanna be just friends" pain, as you already know ;)
